Just as we get to the point of abandoning all those New Year Resolutions, we can start again! Lent begins on 14th February and it is traditional to use these six weeks until Easter, not only to give something up, but to focus on something positive to help us grow in the faith.
In the Llannaugrange group of parishes we plan to have a weekly Lent lunch, a chance to get together with friends and neighbours over a simple lunch and support the Bishop’s Lent Appeal (more on that to follow). The first one is on Ash Wednesday 14th February 12.45pm in the Vicarage after the service at 12noon.
Our regular Monday evening group will be joining other parishes in the Monmouth Ministry Area to listen to Bishop Dominic Walker OGS talk about St John’s gospel. 7-7.45pm at Ty Price (church hall opposite St Thomas’s church) followed by refreshments.
Or, you could join a group at Swallow Barn in Mitchel Troy to ‘Rediscover Jesus’ on Tuesday afternoons. And, on Thursday evenings in March, Barbara Bell will be looking at paintings from Florence and discussing how art can encourage and deepen our faith.
Stations of the Cross will happen on Fridays at 6pm in various churches n Monmouth
see the poster for details of all these events.
